Ethical Lesson from Snowmobile Suits in Florida
Your humble servant here loves your "do the right thing" approach to ethics. Here is why. It is flexible. It reminds this writer of the old advice "When in Rome do as the Romans do." In other words, to survive, we must gauge our interactions with others with reference to the environments in which we operate in order to survive. As you observe, ethical behavior for a teacher in the classroom does not automatically translate into ethical behavior in business, or vice versa. As my Ph.D. advisor taught me, "The environment is all-powerful." Environments change; they are not always the same. We must weigh, reflect carefully on how to one, protect ourselves, and then, two, how to protect others as best we can. Yes, "Do the right thing" - as environments dictate. We do not wear snowmobile suits in Florida, unless we are daft! Good job. Dr. Rux
