Czech Decision Point
Marisa, your analysis of Havel (Vaclav) reminds your humble servant of his experiences in Toronto, Canada 1968-1971 (University of Toronto), with Czech refugees. In particular, he knew of two women who wanted to stay in Canada. To do this, they would violate their exit visa from their home country. To violate their permit to leave their country to visit Canada for a period of time would 1) result in their arrest if they returned home and 2) result in their never being able to travel outside the country again. In the end, they decided to go back because their families where there; they did not want to create a situation where the state would attack their families as a way to get even with them for remaining in Canada. In the end, they returned. They did not go over the time limit. Fortunately, things got better in time over there. Yet, I shall never forget the pain in which these two young women were. Dr. Rux
