Viktor Frankl's Logotherapy and Human Need for Meaning
Serena, Viktor Frankl speaks to man's need for meaning. We can endure pain more, better if we can find meaning in it. This is not to advocate pain. It is the old saying: "It is not what happens that matters. It is what people think happens that matters." It is the power of perception, how we frame experiences, the meanings we give them. For the Christian, there is comfort in this frame of analysis: "All things work together for good to them who love God." This way of framing experience is logotherapy; it provides comfort during hard times to help us endure. We relearn every generation what previous generations have learned. Thanks. Dr. Rux
