Prudence

Conservatives are prudent. Before making decisions, they seek first to understand where we have been - and why we have been there - in order to better understand where we are - and may want to go. They value the empirical tests of time in human affairs. Today, of course, because of the overall dumbing down of what passes for education, especially in our public schools, more and more people have no sense of history. They think the world begins and ends with them. Historians call this "presentism." Of course, as the old saying goes, those who are ignorant of history are doomed to repeat its mistakes.
