Madison, Wisconsin vs. Reality

Home base for Basic Choices is the Madison, Wisconsin region. The late Lee Sherman Dreyfus (1926-2008), 40th governor of this state, described Madison as "20 square miles surrounded by reality." The Madison area is also called the "Peoples' Republic of Madison" and the "Left Coast of Wisconsin." Wisconsin went to sleep one night, and while it slept, the state tilted. Everything loose rolled to Madison. The local "loud-mouth" radical Freedom From Religion Foundation is one proof of this "tilt." As a result, Conservatives who believe in the "Permanent Things" in the Madison, Wisconsin area have little space to meet, share ideas, and encourage each other. Basic Choices wants to provide this space. Of course, we invite Conservatives beyond the Madison, Wisconsin area to synergize with us too. However, our first concern is to provide a badly-needed support system for our local Conservatives.
