School Violence and Psycho-Babble

Victoria, your humble servant would take this ethical approach.  Today, a paramount concern is school violence.  Any student who signals potential to be violent has not place in the school.  The school is not a rehab center.  The school ought to be a place where students get grounded in skills to get a job, period.  Check out the educational philosophy called Essentialism for more on this approach.  So, forget the psycho-babble and focus on reality.  The reality is people are rightly scared to death about school violence; the street-smart educator will respect this growing fear, or risk some very bad consequences.  In short, we have forgotten the original purpose of schooling:  job preparation.  It is time to restore it.  Dr. Rux
