Confucius on the need for health father/son relationships.

It is amazing how Bly restates the ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius.  He argued that the father-son relationship is crucial to a stable society.  This writer worked with parental voucher schools in the central city of Milwaukee as a planning consultant.  One of the schools focused on children of single, unwed mothers.  These kids lived in chaos, for they never knew who was going to be living with them as boyfriends came and went.  The sad part was the challenge of the school, according to Mrs. Tatum, a lead teacher, was to teach these kids that an adult could talk to you without yelling and get your attention without grabbing you!   I am not making this up, unfortunately.  I raised $40,000 for the school's launch.  Also, 15,000 convicted felons lived in the three postal zip codes around the school.  The school was the only island of normality and stability for these kids.  It is amazing how such conditions exist "under our noses."  It is also confirmation that the lack of stable father role models, relationships with kids, both boys and girls, is a big factor in this downward spiral.  Yes, traditional relationships, e.g. Confucius on fathers and sons, have time-tested, field-tested value; we commit social suicide to  ignore them.  Good job.  Dr. Rux
