Hands-On Experience and Example Count
Todd, yes, survey feedback and training are a great combo. Get the facts and then craft training around the facts. Sadly, too often in education today the management has little, and in your case, no hands-on classroom experience, nor does it want any. Along the way, the headmaster of an elite private boarding schools for boys (grades 7-12) outside Toronto on purpose taught one senior level English course each term - to signal to the rest of us that he was one of us and knew our challenges. It does not get better than this. Clearly, this is lacking in your context. Good luck with providing the hands-on management that is now missing. Dr. Rux
