Networking Power

Jeanine, yes, more than ever, professional networking is crucial for survival in the job market.  Work to develop a professional network of support, e.g. references and job sources, that stands alone, separate from your present job.  Jobs come and go today; if we lose a job, we do not want to be dependent on it alone for references, job leads.  My sister is experiencing this.  She is switching from teaching medical technicians to medical coding.  She has discovered a professional chapter of the national society of medical coding!  She attended her first meeting there, and she just sent a rave email to your humble servant here, her brother, last night.  She is getting tips on jobs, how to credential, peer encouragement, etc.  Yes, networking is powerful.  Your humble servant here will attend the local Rotary Club here in XYZ, FL tomorrow, a powerful network of local leaders.  Thus, if I want to develop a R&D project here for cash, it is easy to reference other Club members, which puts all instantly at ease.  Network.  It is not an option.  It is survival today.  Dr. Rux
