God's Gift to Us - Our Spouse

Shaun, your wife is God's "grace" - His great gift - to you.  Today, I bought my wife a red rose, and a special "love card" and inserted money into it.  I left the items on the kitchen counter to surprise here.  Your first duty now is to your wife, family, as husband, father.  When you look at your wife you are looking at a person made in the "image" of God, who, like you, has His "Divine Spark," to use Quaker language, in her.  Always tend your marriage.  Always find time for each other.  Always discuss your goals.  My first marriage ended because I wanted a Ph.D. and my wife wanted a house.  I have no bad feelings toward her, because her needs as a homemaker were not being met without owning her own house.  That was her definition of home.  For me, it could be an apartment.  Anyway, your wife can make or break you.  Build your career around your marriage.   This does not mean you stop yourself.  It means you need to factor her needs as well as your own vocation.  I am very pleased to learn of your marriage.  Married men live longer!  God bless you and your wife.  Dr. Rux
