Once Upon a Time in Dublin, Ireland

Eric (Margolis), thank you, again, for another superb analysis (American defeat in Afghanistan this time). Years ago, I was in Dublin, Ireland, at Christ Church, a Norman Conquest construction. Anyway, on the north wall was a plaque to the memory of a British/Irish officer who had perished in Afghanistan in the 1800's placed there by his “brother officers.” I recall reading it and saying to myself, “I am glad my country does not engage in such ventures.” That was then.
