Social - Technical System Analysis

Shaun, you are "on target" here.

You clearly see the relationships among various technologies, but you are now acutely aware of the need to focus "like a laser" on the new social media technologies.

You are very street smart, also, to link social media technologies to human sociology.

There is a framework called "Social/Technical Systems" analysis, which your humble servant here used for his Ph.D. dissertation. It states every technology has a sociology that buys, learns, uses, updates, funds, and services, supports it.

We need to factor both Systems, social and technical, when we engage in any kind of technology planning.

As you point out, sociology can also block use of technology, as well as promote its use.

Consider it as a core frame of analysis for your own research.

Thanks.

Dr. Rux
