Week 8 – June
22-2014 – June 29, 2014, EDDC 618 – Course Progress Feedback – Dr. Paul Rux
Bittersweet. Yes, it
is always bittersweet for your humble students to take leave from students like
you. This writer is like an old mother
bird who does not want her young to fly from the nest to soar in the
skies! Yes, you must fly, you must soar,
and you must realize your destiny. There
is some comfort in this for your humble servant here as we come to the end of
course. I have submitted your final
grades to the registrar at Concordia; as expected, you have done first-class
outstanding work! Thank you greatly!
I also want to thank you for what you have given me. As you know, over and over, I have stressed
the need for budget to drive improvement and innovation. As we
come to the end of our formal time together online, I have realized that it is
the “fundraiser” in me who was speaking to you!
Yes, I have an extensive background in “development,” the polite word
for fundraising. I have been active in
the Association for Fundraising Professionals and raised $250,000 to drive a
technology upgrade project for the Wisconsin State Department of Public
Instruction! For me, everything comes
back to budget, having resources. You
have reminded me of this again, “good and hard,” as a result, I plan to return
to doing more work in the development, fundraising field for pay. You have pushed me out of the “nest” too!
Dr.Rux
