Plato: Censrship promotes ethical societies.

Katie, Plato observed that the "sights and sounds" of, in a society shape its ethical behaviors.  This is why he advocated censorship of "sight and sounds " (mass media example today)to nurture ethical behaviors.  This writer agrees with Plato.  Plato was desperate to find ways to save his country, Athens, Greece, from collapse because of internal decay of ethical behaviors.  Alas, his country collapsed shortly after his death when the disciplined Macedonians invaded and conquered the "do whatever you want" society in Athens.  Plato provides a warning for our day, as do writers like Arthur Boer.  Sadly, we seem doomed to relearn the lessons of history, the hard way.  This seems to be human nature.  We only learn from pain in the final analysis, or so it seems.  Meanwhile persons of good will, good intention lament the loss of ethical health and seek to correct it to avert impending collapse.  You are not alone in your observations, which, in effect, mirror Plato.  Maybe it is possible to reverse course yet.  I pray, hope so!  Dr. Rux
