Organizational Power and Politics and Standards
Kristyn, the breakdown here is with administration. One, it has student feedback about unprofessional behavior. Two, it has an ethical duty to explain to this yahoo professor what constitutes professional conduct. We cannot do what we do not know. So we assume this yahoo yeller has not received training in workplace expectations. Once he has received this, it is entirely fair to hold him accountable for his coarse actions good and hard. So, one challenge is staff training. Another challenge is the failure of the administrative system to respond to "customer complaints" in a constructive way, good and hard. This is a classic example of how organizational politics can destroy standards. Sadly, this is not an isolated example. In the end, somebody with power needs to right this. Good luck. Dr. Rux
