Quantum Physics, Logos, and St. Thomas Aquinas
You wrestle with a common challenge: Faith Vs. Reason. When I went to the University of Wisconsin - Madison my parents cringed that it would turn me into an atheist, because of the scientific firepower there. So I arrived apprehensive. However, Gaines Post, my medieval culture professor, showed me the way to remove this tension. St. Thomas Aquinas who lived in medieval times points out that if we follow reason far enough and religion far enough they converge, for there is only one basic truth. Take this for example. In Quantum Physics they tell us behind sub-atomic particles, the energy flows behind these particles, exists a logic. The physical universe is not random if we drill down deeply enough. The Gospel of St. John starts with this, "In the beginning was the Word (logos in Greek, from which we get the word logic), and the Logos became flesh and appeared among us! Centuries apart theology, St. John's Logic and the logic of quantum physics converge. A logic runs our universe. All evidence converges on this plain, simple truth. So do not let science, reason derail you. Think St. Thomas Aquinas. I hope this helps. DR. Rux
