Ethical Relativism
Derrick, you are consistent. You start with Ethical Relativism and end with it. It basically says there are no objective standards on which to base ethics, so in effect, it is every man and woman for himself or herself. And who are we to judge? This is the spirit of our time; it is not surprising to find you embracing it. Your humble servant here, however, takes the position of Plato, who based ethics, behaviors that do not injure others are ourselves, on simple biology. No healthy creature wants pain or death. This is universal. It is biological. It is scientific. It is factual. It is, also, timeless. Pain and death define ethical behavior, or unethical behavior. As you can see, your professor it outdated, a throwback to 500 B.C. Yet he sees nothing that has abolished biological reality. How does Ethical Relativism deal with this biological reality? Good job. You got your professor excited! Dr. Rux
