Guidance from Confucius on Internal and External Success Controls

Exactly.  Today it is too risky, dangerous to trust any system out there.  Sadly, our values have degenerated badly.  As your humble servant here says, "They are changing the rules on us."  These are the social rules.  God's rules still apply.  However, the greed that has overtaken our country has corrupted its systems to the point that old values like trust, loyalty, honor are marginal.

It is sad; however, as your humble servant here has discovered in reading the thoughts of Chinese icon Confucius, we do not have to let the external corrupt the internal.  He puts it this way.  How can we control our success?  We in the final analysis have little or no control over externals; we do have control over what is internal to us, read our soul, our conscience, our morals, our beliefs, etc.  He argues that we ought to invest in what we can control and downplay what we cannot control.

This is exactly where this writer has arrived.  You are moving in this direction too.  Now, you have a footnote to explain your choices.  Sadly, nothing has changed since the ancient Chinese sage observed the human condition; he did not surrender.  If he stood firm, so can we.  Invest internally, not externally.  Keep up your great work!   Dr. Rux
