Confucius and Hidden People
Lisa, you have just restated the Chinese philosopher Confucius here. This writer more and more admires him. His idea of education was character formation, which means, nurturing good, healthy values in learners. We do this most through personal example. However, it also helps to have some formal teaching, education, too. Yes, toward the end of my father's life, he said to me, in the nursing home, "Isn't is good to be a family of honor." Amen, dad. Your son seeks to preserve this honor. You embrace the same task, Lisa. Do not worry about flipping the whole society. Rather, as you intend, focus on those near, dear to you. Persons who do this day in and out are known in Chinese thought as the "Hidden People." Day in and day out the little people, not the fakes, phonies, and frauds in the mass media, are the ones who make things run, go, function, survive. You and I are in fact such "Hidden People," and we badly need more of them. Dr. Rux
