“La Bamba” – A 2013 Family Reunion
Tribute to Aunt Dorothy
When I think
of Aunt Dorothy, the phrase “La
Bamba” pops into my head.
You may
recall “La Bamba” is the name of a
famous song by Ritchie Valens.
He also starred in a popular movie based on
his hit song “La Bamba.”
“La Bamba”
means to dance with style and grace, to move with style and grace.
Aunt
Dorothy is pure “La Bamba.”
I have known
Aunt Dorothy now for ten years.
Regardless
of the time, place, or circumstance of our meeting, Aunt Dorothy has always
been pure “La Bamba” – pure style
and grace.
·
Aunt Dorothy’s
“La Bamba” means she knows how to be
a lady.
·
Aunt Dorothy’s
“La Bamba” means she knows how to
set high standards of good taste, manners – and, yes, elegance.
·
Aunt Dorothy’s
“La Bamba” means she knows how to
say the right words at the right times, in happy and sad times.
Yes, Aunt
Dorothy is pure “La Bamba,” pure
style and grace.
Her “La Bamba” – her style and grace - has
been – and is – a blessing to all of us.
Her “La Bamba” reminds us the vulgar do not
have to rule the world. We can still set
and keep civilized standards and manners.
May all of
us create our own “La Bamba. Thank you Aunt Dorothy for showing us
how to live with style and grace – and reminding us that all of us can have “La Bamba.”
You have set the example! “La Bamba” for all of us - forever!
