ILS Forever!

Mark, the following information on page 48 of your manuscript caught this reader's attention big time.  His Experimental College - a pioneer learning community - morphed into the two-year Integrated Liberal Studies, or ILS, program.  Your humble servant here is a proud graduate of the ILS program and has served as VP of its alumni foundation!  ILS provided a fantastic foundation for this writer's academic career beyond high school.

Dr. Rux

The germinal work of Alexander Meiklejohn in 1927, while at the University of Wisconsin, is foundational in Constructivist learning theory.  Meiklejohn created a two-year program that asked students to study Greek literature one year and then do comparative using contemporary literature the next year. Students both crossed disciplines and organically formed a learning community, (Gabelnick et al., 1990[P1] ).
