Gossip

Gossip is an important consideration, as an intern, as an employee, or in fact at any time. Here is the reason. If I gossip about somebody to you, I likely will gossip about you to somebody too. I learned this the hard way last year. I passed informal information from one political person (county executive candidate) to another political person (former Lt. Governor of Wisconsin). The result was losing the long-standing (eight years) friendships with both. Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut. This is an old Mafia rule; it is time-tested, field-tested, and works.
