What counts in education today.

What counts in education today.
Erik, on Thursday, I attended a Rotary luncheon in Madison, Wisconsin. The guest speaker was a football referee for University of Wisconsin - Madison Big Ten football and basketball games. He shared this. Each home game in Madison earns $8 million for the athletic department. He did not touch on the earnings for each basketball game, which stays in the athletic department. He did point out that as a referee for basketball games he earns $3,000 / game; during the season, he referees on average three basketball games per week. Some are at different campuses in different conferences. Yes, it is big business; this is why your humble servant here feels no need to be loyal to these college teams. It is no longer alma mater. It is big business, really big.
