Today, after Rotary luncheon, I had the chance to visit for two hours with a former Ph.D. professor of mine at the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Among his many achievements was serving as the Washington, D.C. lobbyist for the Wisconsin State Department of Public Instruction (DPI). He shared some stories about how he worked there. In sum, we both agreed. Keep it simple stupid. Keep the memos to one page. Keep the language clear, simple. Your reader, listener has exactly five minutes to hear you or read you between phone calls! It was great to learn from him once more. I plan to do more of this, for he seems lonely since he is no longer on the front lines of action. Dr. Rux
