Deliver us from Evil.

Today, our neighbors, a young couple with three children, one of whom will be in the second grade in September came to our house in a state of high stress.

A man in a car had tried to entice their second-grader into his car with the gift of a doll! She accepted it, and went into the house to show her mother, who rightly became upset.

Fortunately, there were men installing carpet in the house across the street from us, and we believe their coming out of the house to get carpet from their truck somehow scared this monster - this time.

As a result, the little girl left the house - and hid in the back seat of their car in the drive way. The parents noticed her absence a short time later - and became frantic!

They thought the man in the car had somehow returned and snatched their daughter from them!

The husband and wife rushed over to our yard, where my wife Jane and I were working on the lawn and our new back yard deck. They are good neighbors and their children play with our two grand children, ages 3 and 7, when they come to visit and stay with grandpa and grandma.

My wife Jane and I immediately followed them toward their house, and I advised the father to phone the police immediately. He went inside to do this, and six minutes later the mother found her missing daughter!

I cannot describe those six minutes except to say they have changed this writer good and hard. Those six minutes also drew me closer to the Lord's Prayer, which he prays daily upon awakening and before going to sleep.

God answers prayers. He delivered us from the evil of the vermin in the car who shattered the "perfect" summer day for us. Sadly, the mutant is still out there. We are in the process of warning all of the parents on our street to watch their children closely.

The state has placed registered sex offenders in our town - an offense against the decent people here. It is time the normal people took back this country from the predators.

This writer is still shaky. We came too close to an immense tragedy today on Lake Street, Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. The world is no longer the same for us. God answered our prayers today and delivered us from evil - this time.
