Role Models, Crtical Thinking, Indoctrination
Johnel, what "jumps out" at your humble servant here is your observation that learning is not indoctrination. Learning, in effect, is being able to think for yourself. As you point out, the professional educator will foster critical thinking, not indoctrination. Your humble servant here is very mindful of not wanting to indoctrinate members of our course; he has said so explicitly in one of his weekly learning summaries for course members. Also, we, educators, are also role models. Students look to us for clues on how to be professional; hopefully we send the right signals. Students watch what we do and say; our examples become guides to their own professional growth. Yes, role models and indoctrination are two key facets in ethical education. Thank you for pointing them out! Dr. Rux
