Go inside not outside to achieve success.
Thank you for sharing your ethical insights from our course. Two of them warrant special comment. One, ethics include how we treat ourselves, not just others. We tend to overlook this personal dimension of ethics in our concern for fair play with other people. Yet, ethics apply to our own person; we need to nurture ethics that help, not harm, us. Your second attention-grabbing insight is personal control over our ethical formation. Confucius pointed out that if we seek success through business and politics we in effect hand over our destiny to other people to "make or break us." However, if we define success as leading a moral, ethical life, then we have complete control over the outcomes - and others cannot rob us of the outcomes. As your humble servant puts it, your religious faith will be the only thing you will take with you when you leave this world. The rest, the external will stay here. Invest wisely! Good job. Dr. Rux
