Basics of Getting a Government Job
Yvonne, here is the likely success route. Since this is a federal job, contact the offices of your U.S. Senators and U.S. Representative. They usually have home offices, so you need not to travel to Washington, D.C. to pursue this plan. Explain you are seeking a federal job. Explain what kind it is. Ask if you could meet with the specialist in the office who helps persons with federal employment. This person, in turn, can advise you on how to present your application. These offices advise persons on how to apply for admission to our military academies. So it is not new for them to have people approach them for help with federal jobs. You may also ask them if they know of anybody in the unit to which you are applying. Ask them if they would serve as a reference for you. Ask them if they would make a phone call to this person, the application "gatekeeper." You are not asking for a fix. You are asking for a chance to get a review, a "hearing." You will rise and fall on this review; unless you get the review, you are "dead in the water." This is not bribery or coercion. It is simply asking for the chance to get a hearing, a review. Believe me, lots of good folks do not clear the "gatekeeper" and have their applications thrown into the "waste basket." This is an entirely ethical approach. You are not asking for favors, only a chance for a fair hearing. Please let me know what develops. Thanks. Dr. Rux
