Exit for Hotheads

Yesterday, my wife and I hosted our annual friends and family outdoor picnic.  As anticipated, two hotheads returned.  Both are rigid in their attitudes and verbally attack each other.  They did last year.  They did this year!  They insist on being right!  This time, moreover, they involved a third person in their rants against each other over who is right and wrong.  The third person did the smart thing and exited as fast as he could.  As the Chinese Taoists teach, "Ducks waddle, and cranes walk.  Ducks never walk, and cranes never waddle."  This is how it is, or to use Taoist language, "As is."  The moral of the story is do not engage in wishful thinking about being able to change people.  At best, we can avoid them; the result of this outburst yesterday is your humble servant here is taking steps to have one of them removed from the board of this writer's nonprofit.  We cannot afford hotheads if we want to work together to move forward.  Dr. Rux
