A Forever Basic Human Tension

Jacob, this works for full credit. There is a core tension, always, between the individual and the group, the individual and society. Who gets what, when, where, why, and how create a tension between the individual and society. Do we learn for ourselves, as individuals, or do we learn to serve society, others? In the final analysis, your humble servant here starts with Socrates who taught that the first step toward learning is to "Know thyself." We learn because in the process we respect our abilities. What we do with them comes later. Self-worth comes first.
