Plato Defines Ethics
Michael, Plato defines ethics as behaviors that do not harm others or ourselves. Notice the word behavior. It is action. Morals are belief that can impact action. However, what counts is what I do, not what I say. Walk the talk. Also, Plato's definition is based in universal human biology. No living creature, unless diseased, welcomes pain, injury, death. Therefore, Plato rids us of the cutesy ethical relativism blather. He grounds ethics in biological, scientific facts, and observable behavior. You cannot beat the "old guys" for basic insight into the human condition. God bless, Paul
