Brian, thank you for this astute analysis. Yes, organizations require different styles of leadership at different times depending on what the organization needs. For instance, in ecclesiastic language, at times the Church needs bishops "temporarl," good administrators of worldly resources; at others times, it needs bishops "spiritual," persons who spark the fire of Faith in the church. Wisdom is knowing when to seek the temporal or the spiritual leader. By spiritual, I mean transformational. By temporal, I mean transactional. It is amazing how basic concepts exist under different terms. The fundamentals of the human condition are not new.
